End of year message from Officer Commanding Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire Wing

As this year draws to a close, it’s been less venture adventure and more per ardua ad astra. The stars being every squadron delivering on line activities, cadet progression and achievement, promotions including staff, and CWO and uniformed staff appointments. The star on top of the tree is how many units have achieved F2F status and we look forward to the final few doing so early into 2021.

I have been impressed by the resilience and dedication shown by all members of the Wing in delivering the above. Of course many of us have been tested and I salute all those who have had key worker roles or have been coping with unexpected additional challenges. I have witnessed many acts of service and kindness throughout the year. The ability to overcome challenges, look after each other and still smile is what we are about.

I hope those of us that have experienced loss or are feeling overwhelmed can draw on being part of a huge extended family for support. Whether or not you celebrate Christmas as a faith based event or for the holiday spirit, I wish you and your families a very merry one. The light is at the end of the tunnel and we are nearly out of it.

Dig deep, look after yourself and if you can, others. I look forward to a return to all that we love in 2021.

Kind regards
A J Kelly, Wg Cdr FCMI RAFAC
